Fifteen-year-old Candy Chancellor must choose between holding onto yesterday’s pain or the hope of tomorrow. When her father is tragically killed weeks before her baby brother is expected, Candy is tossed from being a happy home schooled girl to the new girl at Christian school- with a seat in front of her new best enemy. Now that her grieving mother is unable to provide any true support, Candy relies on the help of two of her new friends from school, an old friend of the family, and tries to find God in the midst of it all.
Real estate tycoon Leslie Chancellor must make a choice between life or death and this time she doesn’t have her husband to help her. When Robert Chancellor is tragically killed, Leslie spirals into a deep darkness she can’t escape. Now that Candy is chasing her dreams of being a super star, Leslie must rely on an old family friend, a kind colleague, and new friend she didn’t plan on meeting.

Interview with the Author
- What does success as an author look like to you?
That’s a question I wrestle with daily. Sometimes I wonder if success should look like my movie being made into a movie by Hallmark, the Kendrick Brothers, or For King + Country. Other times, I wonder if the story is just for my future daughter, if I have one. For now, success is having been obedient to the call of the Lord to write the story placed in my heart. Success=following God’s direction.
- Which character did you connect to best in this book?
Leslie!! I love her as a character so much.
- Which author influenced the you most?
That’s a toss up between Robin Jones Gunn and Karen Kingsbury. I’d still have to go with Gunn though. I love writing for teens like her and have been writing since I started reading her books at age fifteen. I still read her new books now!! However, I do write true to life in dual POV which favors Kingsbury, so is it a tie?
- What is your favorite Bible verse or life verse?
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. -Ephesians 2:10
- What is your vacation spot?
Puerto Rico every single time.
- What are you reading right now?
I’m reading Welcome to the Honey B&B by Melody Carlson.
- If you could have one book or piece of art or music on a deserted island, what would it be and why?
Book: Bible
Art: My mom’s painting of a lily
Song: Proof of Your Love by For King+County Ft. Rebecca St. James
