Simon swirled his Scotch to consider his answer. “I can neither confirm—”
“Or deny it.” Javier finished the sentence. “The standard answer. Pretty much tells me she’s still attached to Langley.”
“Why the sudden interest? What rumors have you heard?”
Olivia recently uncovered the mole. Everyone believed that was the end of it. Or did someone finally find out she was Phoenix?
Javier shrugged. “Just curious is all. The task force 629 you guys are consulting with is mysterious.”
Simon wiped away a ring someone’s glass must’ve left on the bar. He didn’t even know they assigned a number to Ron’s task force. He always thought of it as the Ghost task force. “Classified stuff is always mysterious. If it’s an open book, it wouldn’t be classified. So, tell me about Liz. Still trying to get you to lose weight?”
Javier laughed. “Always.” They chitchatted in this vein until Javier clattered his glass back onto the counter. His scowl returned before whispered words rushed out. “I don’t know what to do.”
“About?” Simon’s concern deepened at the shift in Javier’s tone.
